Placement of the GPS tracking device is important because it will affect the accuracy of the readings and the quality of GPS reception. Usually the best performance is achieved when the receiver, or its antenna, has a view of the sky with few obstructions. Otherwise it receives signals reflected off the ground.
Generally, GPS signals will travel unobstructed through materials such as glass, plastic, rubber, fiberglass, carpeting and cardboard. You should avoid placement that surrounds the tracking device by metal or concrete.
